Can’t think of a hairstyle to wear for an upcoming big event? You can never go wrong with a braided updo. There are different kinds of braids and one will go well with the day or night’s occasion you’re going to attend. Braided updos are chic hairstyles that could work even if you’re having a bad hair day. Here are some different types of braided updos that you can try:
1. French Braid
This is your classic braided updo, and it’s perfect night and day. You can wear it indoors and outdoors and it is quite easy to do. There’s a variation to it called the inverted French braid, which you can try if you want a slightly different effect.
2. Ponytail Braid
This type of braided updo is quite simple. Just tie your hair in a ponytail and braid it as desired. There are different ways to do this. You can tie your hair up high and braid your hair in different smaller sections, braid them all together, or you can just twist it around. The chain link braided updo falls under this type as well.
3. Fishtail Braid
Pigtails and braids go well together. In this style, you simply have to divide your hair into two sections to make a pigtail and braid each side. You can make it a messy look for a nice effect and top that braided look with a newspaper boy cap.
4. Halo Braid
The halo braided updo is also referred to as the Heidi braid where the braid runs around your head from top to bottom. You have the choice to part your hair from the middle or do it from the sides and work all the way around.
5. Waterfall Braid
This elegant braid works around the head as well, but this time it’s from the side to the back of the head. Here, parts of the hair included in the braid are allowed to fall back, creating a beautiful waterfall effect, thus the name. This braided updo is a little bit difficult to do on your own so you might want to have somebody help you with it.
6. Braided Bun
Braided buns put a little twist to your regular buns. The idea is to braid the hair first before putting up into a bun. Your bun is going to be more elegant and sophisticated that way. The bun can also be placed anywhere on the head, depending on your preference.
7. Voluminous Braid
Big braids are a big thing these days so it may be high time for you to try it. Instead of doing the usual French braid, curl or tease your hair first before twisting it around. Be sure to take large sections of hair as you do so.
8. Boho Braid
This braided updo gives the wearer an easy, casual look. Perfect for daytime, this hairstyle works best for women with long, free-flowing hair. Just braid a small portion of the hair, let it fall along with the rest, and tie it all together. You can also do a bigger braid at the end.
